Significant Surrender of Maoists in Chhattisgarh

New Delhi: In a significant development, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Monday that 21 Maoists, including 13 prominent leaders, have surrendered along with their weapons in Chhattisgarh. This event took place in Kanker district, marking a crucial step in the government's commitment to eliminate Naxalism by March 31, 2026.

The surrender occurred on Sunday, with the Maoists handing over a total of 18 firearms to the authorities.

Amit Shah expressed his satisfaction on social media, stating, "I am pleased to report that 21 Maoists have surrendered with their arms in Kanker district, Chhattisgarh, including 13 senior cadres."

He praised the former Naxals for renouncing violence and joining the mainstream society, urging others still involved in armed conflict to follow suit and surrender promptly.

Shah reiterated the government's determination to eradicate Naxalism by the set deadline.

Earlier, on October 17, 210 Naxalites, including a central committee member known as Rupesh alias Satish, who had a reward of Rs 9.18 crore on his head, surrendered in Jagdalpur, Bastar district, along with 153 weapons.

Additionally, on October 2, 103 Maoists, 49 of whom had a combined bounty exceeding Rs 1.06 crore, surrendered in Bijapur district of the Bastar region.
